Okay, this might be kind of a real particular question, but, in the next month I will be attempting my first grow, I have solid technical support from experienced friends, but I'm still paranoid about spiking my power bill, is this something they watch for ? I'm in Canada if that makes any difference, and I know there has been some real big busts around my area (within 100 miles), but those are the big houses where they destroy the whole house while growing in it, but I heard that those ops were ususally stealing power anyways??? Everyone says don't worry, I also don't want to be a target either. In case anybody is wondering power here is $9.99/gigajoule and I will be running 1-1000W HPS, 1-600W MH and a few flouro's for germing, and the associated fans,timers controllers, etc... eventually that will be my peak power consumption, all replies appreciated.

Well, one thing you can do, If you have the room, is to build a flip flop flower room.
The 1000w will only spike once because you leave it on 24/7 and get relays to flip between two separate rooms. Down side to that is running 1000w 24/7

Switch from 1000 to 600 as you only lose 20000 lumes for 400 watts of power an hr

You could double that usage without raising any suspicion. What you're talking about is just barely a little more usage than running a space heater.

I concur with this.. The only way that gets noticed, is if you rent, and the landlord pays the power-bill.. And even then, notice warranting suspicion on his part wouldn't be a sure thing..

Iv used way more power than that in my grows and i was totally fine. U have nothing to worrie about, i live in the states for Christ sakes and i still haven't gotten a knock at the door yet

I'm up in Canada to man and I can say don't worry about it at all, the amount of power your going to be using isn't gonna alert anyone , Plus were in Canada they only care about the big grows and the guys stealing hydro.
