im 26 yrs old and im looking to start a dream job...do something creative with my life and get into something im intrested in...

So say i wanted to open a local headshop. Would i have to get special permits to sell tobacco products but no actual tobacco itself?
and would i be able to sell "legal highs" and plants like kratom n salvia?
Where would someone like me ( a person looking into a small buisness) get all the legal mumbo-jumbo i need to get a buisness like this started?
Would there be town ordinences on such buisnesses being run?
So many questions but so lil awnsers....

How would i find local laws?
Im just an ordinary citizen looking to start a small store....

I would start by contacting an attorney who has some specialization in the industry you're interesting in getting started in...

Go to your local courthouse, file for a fictitious business name statement, register it in the paper, handle all license and tax requirements, find a wholesaler of pipes, purchase, and sell them.

Meanwhile it would be smart to find local glass blowers that will let you put their creations on consignment, and sell their art through your storefront. (Since most wholesale glass is just shitty thin stuff)

Form relationships with companies buy making a few purchases of their product and demonstrating longevity, and build your stock up with them as you go along.

Work out a deal with the glass blowers you meet on having them come in to do demonstrations every couple of weeks on a saturday and maybe do a class (to bring in some business) Pay some friends to post of flyers at spots where 18+ stoners, partiers, etc will be hanging out.

Give stuff away free... freebies always bring people back. promotional items and such like Beeline, or glass screens, bowls, etc.

Theres a lot you can do, and a lot of ways to get started...

i know i can get a lawyer, but theres gotta be a step i can take before that. a step where i can absorb all local laws before droppin money. i kno eventually ill need a lawyer if i open a headshop in North Jersey...but im startin my idea from ground up. its been an idea of mine for years and now im actually thinkin on doin it. statin an online buisness and run a store at the same time...al under one name. but i wanna research all i can before id invest in a lawyer

yea there's a shop not to far away from me...in Montclair NJ. I was just speaking to someone from CMMJ.org about Jersey Laws. Laws, he said, my best bet was to speak to a shop owner or a lawyer. He forwarded the lawyer my email, so hopefully he gets back to me.
if i get anymore info ill post up here...just so if anyone has the same question i do, they have info...(like i DON'T have)
