Just curious what are some methods people use to figure out if someone is an undercover agent or not and what info you have to back this up on if it really works.

I have heard of things like if they smoke with you they are not or if you ask them they have to tell you. there is no real proof behind this that i have found but does anyone know things that are usefull?

I can tell you for a fact that they do not have to tell you they are a cop if you ask them. That's a flat out lie. Cops are allowed to lie to you and they will anytime they think it's in their best interest to do so. That's one of the reasons you never want to talk to a cop without a lawyer...ever. They will use lies to coerce you into doing or saying what they want.

As far as the smoking thing I couldn't answer that for sure but I would not rely on it as a test. I have a friend who's been a cop for 20 some years and he told me they all smoke pot as a part of their training so they know both the effects and what someone looks like when they are high. If a cops cover was that he is a user of a certain drug turning down a hit of whatever drug it is could get him killed in some circles.

My rule is don't deal with people you haven't known personally for many MANY years. I also wouldn't take anyone's word vouching for someone else unless they assure me they have known this person for many years as well...thing with that though is if I've known you for years chances are I would have met this third party somewhere along the line...

Cops don't smoke for training, but they do smoke. I know this because the pigs were all to happy to tell me how excited they were to smoke "my crazy looking shit" after shift, as I'm being cuffed and patted.
