Under the new law, will possession of a small amount of cannabis inhibit you from receiving loans for school, joining the military, or teaching?

I know that if you were caught in the past, the law was so.

No. It is stated right in the context of the new law that preventing any school loans due to recieving a citation for possession is forbidden. As far as militaruy service or being a teacher i believe that would fall under the employers rules, however it will no longer show up on a CORI or background check. the strange twist is that because its now a civil violation rather than a criminal one it is considered public information. the law does protect being denied a school loan, adoption of a child, etc.I'm assuming you were refering to massachusetts?? If not sorry.

I was referring to all the states that have decriminalized it, I live in Mississippi btw. Not sure if different states have different decriminalization laws or not.

Mass just passed it. Each states laws are different. You have to read the actual text of the law because the news articals don't tell you all of how they are written. In Mass (once the laws enated in about a month) it will be a civil citation with a fine of $100.00.
