My mother-laws house burned down due too improper stowage of chemicals. This got me thinking how I could minimize danger of a fire and how screwed I'd be if the "room" was the flash point.

Ok, my heater screws up and a fire starts when I am not around to hear the fire alarm. They come, do they enter the house? Yes . Do they need a warrant to keep my house from burning to the ground? Of course not.

Do the police then have a case even though they don't have a warrant?
I would imagine I would be hosed especially if someone gets killed (like a fire fighter)I might have a fews hours at best to clean the whole room of chard evidence before the warrant is signed.

Ideas?

No your not being paranoid, it is a reality.
When I was young we had several houses on our property. My parents would let us kids claim them as ours so we could hang with our friends in them. We each had one....Well my oldest brother was doing drugs and my dad had a suspicion so he went into his house and found paraphernalia. He flipped out and got a gas can and torched the house. It ended up being a 4 alarm fire....The firemen found evidence of paraphernalia and told the police that were there. My Dad got arrested for the drugs, not starting the fire, crazy. So yes if your house burns down and they find evidence of drugs you will get busted.

Thats fucked up.

if the police enter your house because of a fire and find plants they will definately be able to get a search warrant and will not give you the ability to dispose of any evidence. They can keep you from entering the residence until they obtain a warrant. it's fucked up but thats the way it is. try to keep your wiring safe to prevent any problems
