Hello everyone!

I have a question concerning lawyers and farmers. However, I am not a farmer myself... yet I was thinking that it may be a good thing if you are growing to a certain extent to have a lawyer.

If you go to your lawyer and are straightforward with him letting him know that you indeed are a farmer and a special kind of farmer at that, would he be able to do anything?

I was thinking that it would just be nice to have his business card on hand and to make sure that if you were ever to be pulled over or something by the police to just call him immediately and ask him for his help.

Let me know if anyone here has had a lawyer before or has confronted a lawyer with what you do.

i'm scheduled to talk to a lawyer who specializes in weed cases next week. i had the same idea - you can also find out the actual way cases go down - what kind of plea deals, grow size that they pursue aggressively and the such. you should be able to get an outline of the issues in a first meeting without paying too much.

Yeah it seems as if this would be a very worthwhile cost as a farmer you know. If anyone else has already experienced hiring a lawyer please let us kno about your experience.

Yep. It's called "put him on retainer!" $1,500 is usually a good start, just to "hold" him or her. Oh, and make sure they're connected and do actual court cases, you don't want some jockey who the judge has never met trying your case for you. You want the guy who everyone knows personally (and loves).

And again I would like to know stories of people who were driving and had marijuana on them, or were caught with growing marijuana or dealing marijuana and had a lawyer who helped them out a lot.

My own son has a case going right now, so there's no way I'm gonna discuss that. I've never been caught, with anything. All my experience has been civil. Putting a lawyer on retainer means that you place a cash deposit, that he has to hold in a special account (overseen by the state bar) and then as he works for you he pulls off of that retainer. It means you've "retained" him, hired him, as your legal representation.

shit well I almost got a small possession charge when I was at this apt. complex about 2 months ago.. just chillen and police rolls up real quick there's a blunt in my boys hand and I'm holdin my pack. the blunt is little tho and he tosses it

fast forward a little cause this would take all day, the cop basically had me n my boy scared as fuck. Asking why we just standing out here etc.
being us we just said chillen and he said what was that you threw?

Police call for backup which got there pretty quick as this is public housing. other officer tried to find what my bra threw but couldn't find it
we still got searched and found my pack so we had to go to the prescient and got questioned about shit we had nothing to do with. just because we were out there.

I got to call my lawyer and he came down there took a while as he lives out in buckhead but is a family friend.
and he basially got the shit dropped right then and there when he asked to speak to the superior after hearing the story. The superior said let us go since they had to probable cause to search us since my bra lives in that public housing complex.

Now it's just nice to be able to call up ya lawyer and ask for advice.. I always ask him for advice on any dumb shit i get into and if shit would be followed up on.
A lawyer will always give you a straight answer. wont tell you how to get out of shit per say.. but gives you the advice you are looking for.
