Alright so heres the deal.

My friend lives next door to an off duty cop.

My friend also smokes pot in his room usually late at nights, smokes with the window open and incense burning and uses a spoof.

Is there anything that off duty cop can do if he smells pot coming from my friends window?

no theres nothing he can do personally he cant arrest u but he sure as hell can call his other police buddies to come bust ur ass not a good idea

I believe the aroma of burnt hootch is grounds for further investigation. If the air in his flat is warmer than the air outside his window, it should rise and perhaps dissipate?
I'd be worried that the cop neighbor would try to impress his cronies by bringing them in.

Your friend is giving the coppers probable cause. This means your off-duty copper neighbor can smell the reefer and call his on-duty copper friends who can bust the doors down. Even off duty, he's still a sworn peace officer.

Your friend is placing you in jeopardy.

Smoke with the windows closed! You can always air out your room after the smoke has disappeared.

That actually did cross my mind, would it stop it completely from getting outside and do you think the smoke could leak out in to other parts of the house if say using a spoof, burning an incense and being careful not to let any stray smoke get away from you?

There is no such thing as a off duty cop. An active duty police officer has the right to detain or arrest anyone in their jurisdiction for probable cause, regardless if they are "clocked in" on their shift or not.

Smoke reaches everywhere that isn't air tight eventually. The crack below your door, air vents, etc. Incense or not, I would not let a cloud of weed smoke reach a cops open window no matter what!
