Default The Solar Closet (400 watt Solarstorm)

Received my Solarstorm 400 earlier today. Thank you CLW for the GFP. The light is exactly what I expected. Very solid piece of equipment. I was actually extremely surprised with how quiet the thing runs. I'll be throwing in a few clones in the next couple days. Most likely going to SCROG it. Any feedback would be awesome.

I'm thinking of upgrading to the S & P TD-150xs (silent series) fan. The 165cfm fan I have now is connected to a speed controller, and there is a suttle humming sound when the speed controller is less than 75%.

I'll also be adding a 10-12inch Fan at the bottom blowing air straight up from the passive intake. Should help with stem strength as well as better air flow.

Congrats on the new panel, zippy. I was going to jump on the GFP program as well but the reduction of the warranty to 2 years and the weird stuff with their journals on their forum made me step back a bit. Either way I am super interested in seeing a full run with the solarstorm 400 and will tagging along for the ride.

Have you used any led panels in the past? I have heard the solarstorms are heavy and run quite loud. I was just wondering if you had anything to compare the sound levels with?

    Good luck!

This is my first LED grow. I've only been growing with a 250 watt HPS before, as well as outdoor. The Solarstorm is definitely heavy - around 20 lbs. or so. And it gives off way less heat than my 250 HPS. As for sound, when I first plugged the thing in, I wasn't even sure if the fans we're running, that's how quite it was.

36x20x63 inches. (LxWxH) Fits perfectly in my bedroom closet.

Not sure on genetics. Going to the dispensary right now to talk to the budtender. He knows his shit. I've seen some nice SCROG grows of AK. So if that's available, ill be picking up two.

Thanks Guys. Feel free to ask away, and plug in your feedback to help me improve this op.

Awesome, That's good to hear, or not hear as the case may be. heh.

Looking forward to seeing what you get from your dispensary. What medium do you plan to grow in?

    Quick update:
Transplanted (2) Blueberry Sour Diesel clones into 3-gallon geopots.
Using Fox Farm Ocean Forest for medium.
I wanted to stick with 2 of the same clones so I can experiment with nutes, as well as making the canopy as even as possible.

Check California Light Works website for their "Growers Feedback Program". I got this lamp at almost half price, with the option of returning it after 90 days.
