hey,

here is a short brief of my Projekt

First: Layout; Spectrum

I especially like the quality of the drawings, and what is this spectrograph images you got embedded in the drawing , very interesting :-)
I got these 4 questions when looking at you post.

1. How many mA are used to run the fan?
2. What's the function of BD438 and the diodes when using a CCdriver ?
3. What's the function of the 4 effect resistors in the button and the transistor ?
4. where did you buy the LEDs ?

Edit: no.2 Cut the power if one module blows off, it could look like.

Excellent project guod!! Golden dragons, excellent thermal design, modular... I think we've got ourselves a winner!!
Some things don't really seem necessary as Rasser mentioned but maybe you can explain, other than that I am thrilled!

table cw5500 cell D102 is linked to table All_spectra_101212 cell O11 thats wrong change this to cell O13. same for table ww2900: D102 O13 > O11

roundabout 70 mA,

2. What's the function of BD438 and the diodes when using a CCdriver ?

Looking forward to seeing this up and running, i was thinking of making a modulad diy led light so im glad i get to see other peoples attempts first, by the way it looks GREAT!

I think what's great about little panels like this is they don't cost a fortune and have a simple design that's easy to make. Start by making one and then just keep adding them until you have enough to cover your full grow. No need to lay out any big bucks to get started, which is a big plus since cost seems to be one of the main reasons many people don't get into LED growing right now. Any chance these panels can be designed to be daisy-chained Guod? Or does that introduce a load of design issues?

kudos, the right words of some of the ideas behind my projekts. :clap:


Any chance these panels can be designed to be daisy-chained Guod? Or does that introduce a load of design issues?
I have concept in my sketchbook for 4 daisy-chained dimmable moduls.(200W max.)
Beyond 6 we run into trouble with the input current for all moduls. you have to deal with AWG 10 or better Wire.

I'm not sure if anyone else made a point of downloading that ledengin spectrum tool, but it is very fun to mess with and easy to develop great ideas.

So, I´m back from my secret lab with good news.
let me start with the cooling-test

general settings for all 3 tests:
current: 700 mA
voltage: 35 - 36 V
room-temp.: 23°C (73°F)
the second Modul in the prototyp works at 75% fanpower (for a little bit more drama)

1. 100% fan-power (0.9 W)
Temperature for all Leds are below 40°C this means also that the light-Output is > 90%
at higher room-temperature up to 30°C only the red leds(630 nm) goes down to 85 - 80%

2. 75% fan-power (see it as an old dusty fan)
no dramatical change here, plus 2-3°K for the leds.
for this test i change the 27 Ohm to 56 Ohm.

3. defect fan (worst case)
heatsink goes up to 50°C
the temp. of the leds is near 70°C (up to 85°C will be no problem for Leds)
the output for the 630 nm leds is now at 65%. all other leds are over 85% (little shift in the spectrum)
as you see the modul works w/o a fan and we get enough time to fix the fan.

Have you thought about rotating one 180 degrees so that the red line of leds is on opposite sides?

missed that point in the prototype and don´t see it for 2 weeks.
