Ill have taken one more trip around the sun in July. Maybe ill treat myself to a new light, if i do I think it might be California light works. I like their 200w unit for another "led satelite" in my tent. I also like what Petflora has done with his "par t5" I would just need to think of a way to set a t5 up without blocking light from other units.

Only thing is, I have this retro Raliegh (bicycle) I'm in the middle of modding and if i want to finish it this summer I gotta put some hobby funds into that. Decisions decisions.....

I will call Gotham Monday and see what is required of me to fix the unit. Maybe they'll send me a unit upfront as im a good customer and in the middle of a grow.

I'm just grateful I have these sort of problems

    I was offered two options...

1.) Put a hold on my cc for a new panel that they send upfront and when the old model is sent back they refund the hold for the new panel.
2.) Send back the new panel first (Pay shipping to them). When they receive the panel they send a new panel back. (They pay return shipping)

PS - Those Cali Lightworks panels get me all excited. They're just so damn expensive!

Thanks for the heads up Amax, Its good to hear they are standing behind the units. I'm just concerned about what were going to be dealing with in 2013 when we have blackstars that are out of warranty...its gonna be a dooosey!!!!

Cali light works get me excited too. I have to do more research to figure out whats most reliable. I'm willing to spend a bit more for better quality/warranties/design etc. And Im only willing to buy smaller units as i like to mix it all up.

If i did a t5 like petflora it would be a small 2*4 unit i think.

If you were to buy a new led unit lets say 200- 250w actual draw what would you scoop up?

Fix the bike!!! that's what I'd do, always can use a nice bike to cruise on a warm summer day. i like the california lightworks too and really, they aren't that expensive $/watt wise and you are getting some of what I'd consider to be among the better lights on the market.

I don't even want to think about 2013. I would imagine this product behaves the same as any other product after the warranty expires... It will break.

But seriously, I hope anything that is going to happen will happen soon. Once the warranties start running out this is all going to become a clusterfuck. With that being said I'm always in the market for a new panel... Which leads me to your question...

That's a good question regarding the panels. Cali light works panels would definitely be on my short list. As would vipar, kessil, advanced led, apache... Ya know what? I just don't have a favorite atm. There seems to be an influx of quality leds right now and I'm kind of standing on the sidelines, drooling and trying to decide myself. The vipar A200, A300 or Cali lightworks 200w are what get me excited the most currently.

also i would say stay away from california lightworks for the time being , im sure they have good lights but at the prices they sell them at they are marking them up 100% maybe more...... thats outrageous and an outright rip off and untill they lower there prices i would not reccomend them to anyone but when you can afford full page adds in high times why would you lower your prices right? seems blackstars are a good panel but that whole very limited warranty thing scares alot 1 year is a joke. definitely give vipar a look they are some solid well performing panels for sure amongst the best on the market in my opinion and at a great price tag as well

I gotta agree here about CLW panels are great........I really like their new 100w solarflare and get two(veg+bloom booster combo) over a 3x3 area/ two sources of light overlapping/ drool ..............i think it would be killer......

I agree with you Curly they are expensive. Do you think prices will really come down in the near future? I know they just had a 5% off sale.

Psuagro I def think your idea would grow some bomb cannabis, multiple units really allow you to dial in your settings. Prob could get better deal buying 2 or 3 @ a time.

Like Amax said eairler it may be wise to wait it out for a few more months and see what deals pop up on quality units only. It's no deal if the unit is breaking down frequently ya know?

I've been eyeing that company for a awhile, and have had many discussions with George(CLW).......If you email him a couple times, he usually throws a 10% off code(FYI).....the 100 watt unit runs the same massive heatsink but with half the diodes than the 200w........cooling will be better and two(100w) of them should easily beat the 200w due to coverage area increase IMO............and completely built in cali with top quality(ledengin) 5w diodes pushed to 4.2w..........

btw this 100w panel was what I was gonna run for my test but they didn't release the "full cycle" panel in time(production issues)............
