When we're talking about LEDs, we are directing a very small amount of energy (relative to HID lights) at specific wavelengths. So we want to be as efficient as possible. A 25% drop in light output of each LED in an array of dozens of them will affect yield, no doubt.

I think that's a Cree datasheet right? You can see even there the blues/whites hold up a lot better to temperature rises.

Here's the graph for the Osram GD+ 660. I like them better--they stay at about 100% until 40C, which is pretty good. Crees lose 25% by that point.

Yes I think so, I've not been able to find any charts on the no-name LED we all are using
so I was expecting a horrific drop in output from my cheap china lamp but the measurement
did not support that luckily. It could be the improvement I've made, who knows, it's running
silent and cool now so I'm happy with that purges.

I simply can not get my self to pay the price for brand name LED at the current level,
so for me it's either no-name LED or no LED at all.

And who cares if my cheap LED grow lamp is busted in 6 years as long as I'm still breathing and is healthy and fit.
We not designing infrastructure here build to last when we are gone, it's confiscable smoke light

I do find this article strange, it's very biased towards hydro grow along with Dutch passion. But regardless this is old news, I've read countless journals of honest growers getting better results (or just as good) as any hid grow!
I learned to stop arguing with these dinosaur hps fools. Its just a matter of time until they start opening their eyes and realize they LED are here and NOW, not the future.
I'll take my LED herb over any HPS herb any day!

It boils down to the situation one is in, really cant have a 1000watter in a 50cm X 90cm X 180cm grow tent, but i could fit 600watts of LED with no problem and get some top quality dank medicine.

Here is some bud grown under 430watts of LED, the trich production seems much more dense compared to the same bud grown under 400watt of HPS.

First pic is a bottom popcorn bud of the same dried bud in 3rd last pic (has some dust on it due to me dropping it on the floor), 2nd/3rd/4th pic are sat pheno of the same strain, the rest of the pics are indica pheno.

Peace to all and happy growing.

Old post..whatever. Swim bought LED's and the results are bout the same. Swim doesn't like the Disco club effect, makes it hard to see problems, a little dissy, and makes him feel like drinking fancy blue martinies.

With modern advances in LEDs and lowering of prices $300 is almost a decent set up to be sustainable with
