Interested to watch this LED perform, but not expecting much at all.

Wide angled reflectors for bare LEDs with no lenses, penetration is not going to be great.

Comparing the "footprint" to the size of the panel and throwing a bit of trigonometry at the dimensions and reflector angles looks like it needs to be about 3 inches above your canopy ... looks like a very close scrog will be needed to achieve anything except weak stretched plants.

... but, I'm subbed and willing to learn.

Well I would say that I have no idea on this panel's peformance from a personal experience, I've been using Cmh bulbs (philips retrowhite) for indoor lighting the last couple years, love the set it and forget it ideology, so this will be a first for us both I guess and I hope that quality diodes trumps larger higher wattage panels due to efficiency,,,,,,,,,,,but who knows really, i just wanna grow again and be open minded to the future(it will be someday/ you can quote me on that!) of indoor horticultural lighting........lets sit back and enjoy the show fellow grower.........ill try my best; that's all i can guarantee

Edit: Hans has told me that two panels are my best bet under my circumstances(he answered my email!!!lol).....but his website clearly states that it's exceptable use is within 24" x 20"inches, so fuck it I am pushing it slightly over(breaking out the creative training methods I guess) , and i'm not expecting any RIU member to burn 500 bucks on lighting 2x2 area; especially not over two autoshaha.....

Was wondering about the candles burning and releasing fumes which may stick to the flower heads? or am i over thinking this?

Peace to all, keep the happiness growing.

Good question............it should be alright using them, as long as their natural wax/parafin/oil no scents..........I'm only running them for 4hr a day/ will see how it does....

Ed R speaking about LED spectrums and NASA study on Green LEDs (Nov 2010) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P31l6...eature=related

Of course green is amply covered in Cree Warm/Cool Whites as are other key spectrums like yellow and orange

Yeah maybe we can get Hans to wake up and stick some cool/warm xp-e whites on his panel

industry leading leds are an other story compared to imitations leds ... and the lenses talk take an all different angle

I recall an article abut paraffin wax candles. I think they burn cleaner/healthier than the el cheapos.

As to Hans using jumpers, it does minimize the cost v 3 different switches, and you only switch once each per grow, so no biggie

I have have off course subscribed to this thread, for we pay 390$ for 1000kw/h here in Denmark
so efficiency is a serious matter, And I'm looking into everything that can make the most energy efficient grow run.

The reason i was playing with the thought of a programmable LED grow light
as can be seen here Was that i thought that it could control and increase the wattage
as the grow went a long. I'm trying to envision a rising power consumption curve as the plant grow,
    say - Week 1 = 5 watts - Week 2 = 10 watts - Week 3 = 25 watts - Week 4 = 35 watts and so on.
I wonder if the curve is linear or exponential seen over 8 weeks.

The reason Hans got such a nice yield pr. kw/h must also be related to fact that some of the panel is switch off in the beginning.

I like his way of using many smaller LED's far apart, and very close to the plant, and as close to passive cooling(noiseless) as possible.
