Hi PD,
Glad to see that chrome series apparently working out for you.
What's your feeling on the coverage of your unit? This is one of the double-lens ('X2-lens') units, correct?
From this picture:
My initial sense is that, since there appears to be a marked, visible difference between the very center illumination and the periphery (moreso than with just a single lens, which will show the dropoff using a light meter, but the visible distinction between zones is not so apparent), the lighting distribution on your unit looks to be more uneven (than with one lens) - i.e. skewed for a small (high-radiance) center coverage, and more marginal at the edge.
Is this accurate, and what's your experience been like?
----
When I looked at the (single module) HGL 21X-Pro, their double lens coverage as stated (roughly a 12" diameter circle, at a height of 12" above the canopy) indicates a usable angle of closer to 30°, and not anywhere near 90. If you've got a miniature, single cola plant, maybe it'd be kind of useful - but if you wanted consistent coverage to the edge, too, it's probably not the light for you.
Plus, one can only grow so much biomass using any level of illumination within a particular area, so creating an uneven coverage like that...doesn't seem very efficient, esp. in something like a ScrOG, which benefits from consistent, even coverage, vs. growing 'trees'. These seem more suited to growing (1-2) taller plants, rather than wide plants or beds/SOG/ScrOG.
This, in addition to the additional refractive losses one would incur from an additional lens, is why I'm not all that keen on trying to further concentrate/attenuate light from the emitters in that manner.
What are your thoughts so far, after having used it (i.e. the 4-module, 15 LED, double lens Apollo)? This is just above the two plants for now, correct? Thx mate!
Cheers,
-TL

the light is above two plants but in my cabinet which only has internal measurements of like 16" deep x 30" wide and about 4' tall. all lined with reflective mylar. you can really tell where the core focus of the light is and if i was doing it right and had the funds the 6 spot model would work better for my cabinet but i swap the plants position under the light regularly and the buku is actually tied so its main top is under the light. since i already have one of these i'd jump at the chance to get a 2nd for my set up it would make my day much easier since my plant sizes are so different. penetration on this light is impressive thou buds to the base of my blueberry and nice buds in the center of my buku which is crazy dense.
my main light is about 9 inches above the BB and only about 4 inches above my buku top since its tied under the light. but i've got cfl's hanging to each side of my LED and i adjust those when i rotate the plants to be just a few inches above the plants. since i started growing with Led i try to keep ahead on my Cal/mag so no signs of lacking but i do give it pretty regularly
so i miss counted before i went back to check my records and my girls are only on day 36 of flowering.
my goal is to get 3oz of the BB and 1.5 or 2oz off the Buku. but this is my first photo grow and only my 2nd grow overall so i dont know what to expect. what do you guys think will be final yield? i'm taking them all the way to 9 weeks or so, depending on trichs.
buku 2.jpgbuku 1.jpg buku is 31" from the soil
bb 2.jpg bb 1.jpg tape 2.jpgtape 1.jpg My BB is 25" at tallest point
do you have any info on the LED you can share. plants look great yield looks like it will be decent. i see easy 3oz's
Lookin great, man! Super frost! Buku looks not quite as far along as BB, does it pack on its weight later in flower?
