Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I'm getting into hydroponics as a hobby, mostly growing fruits and vegetables. I really like DIY projects, especially when you can save a lot of money over commercial options.

A big part of how I learned about hydroponics came from information here and on 420mag, so I figured it would be a good idea to sign up and share some info even though I'm not growing weed atm.

I personally don't see anything wrong with cannabis, especially considering that alcohol is legal and more destructive to society. But I really don't like indica at all and I have a few other constraints that keep me from growing for another 7 or 8 years.

So far I've got 2 DIY ebb-flow systems on my patio growing roma tomatoes and serrano peppers, an outdoor hempy bucket growing a small key lime tree, and an indoor hempy bucket variant growing romaine lettuce under a 50W HPS light I put together for $35 with parts from home depot.

I want to learn how to mix my own nutrient solutions from bulk chemicals and my next project is going to be a floating DWC setup for more lettuce.

The hempy's are good so far. The indoor lettuce variant is a sterilite box with 4:1 perlite:vermiculite mix with a hole 2" from the bottom. I went with a longer box instead of a bucket so I could have more surface area. I'll post pics soon.

The outdoor hempy with the lime tree has only been there for a couple days - I bought it in a 6" soil pot and transplanted it, but it seems to be doing fine so far.
