Default Aussie Harvester
Hey there growers,

1st time Australian grower, well soon to be.

Started growing vegies at home for 2 years and really liked it, but am moving into my first place so can start my own stealth op now

Used to growing the veggies organicly, compost from scraps and chicken shit as my mum breeds and shows chooks. This stealth op though will most likely have to be in a little shed as the house is in suburbia and will prob have 3 houses within 10metres from the fence.

Looking at getting some LED Panels and only grow a couple of plants (buying 5 seeds soon so hopefully get at least 2). Still gotta browse this site for vent and smell ideas but have really like what ive read so far.

Just wanted to say hi and give you all a little bit of details on what i plan for this summer.

Also, any other Aussies using this forum?

Hey mate, welcome to RIU.

I'm a fellow Aussie grower, and going the stealth indoor route too. My setup is quite ghetto right now as I am moving house in a matter of weeks and will be doing a more thorough setup when settled. Current grow is for some bud in the mean time, and was the source of some mother plants and a few extra clones. We're quite limited here in terms of easy DIY, but if you have any electrical experience, or have a mate how can show you, you can wire up your own fittings quite easily.

I chose CFLs as I found LEDs inconveniently expensive, and though my setup is a quick rig, and has only been in use for 3 weeks, I'm pleased with the potential; 384W CFL for around $250 and they're all full retail prices. You could get the equivalent 400W HPS for $200, and you'd get a much better grow, but you'd struggle with heat without full time air con in summer, and would need a lot of cooling year round. I also chose CFLs as they do not produce as much heat as HPS/MH globes, and I often leave my grow unattended and would rather come home to some singed leaves than a pile of ashes.

I'd be interested in any results you had with LEDs, and also the source and price. Growing has got me hooked!

What seeds are you buying? What medium are you growing in? Closet/Wardrobe/Tent?

Anyway, Welcome again!

Thanks for the greetings guys!

Going to keep it really small for my first few harvests, 2 plants tops no mothers or clones. Might clone just to see if theyre female (got the idea from 'I GROW CHRONIC' Vids).

Will most likely keep it in a wardrobe or maybe just blocked of by a fake wall or something in the shed outside. Will use soil from the yard after i dig it out for my veggie garden and might just use a little nutrients.

Thinking about this for the lighting;
24-0 for the first 2 weeks.
18-6 for a week.
12-12 til harvest.

Just wanted a quick veg then straight into flowering so it doesnt grow too tall, any input is GREATLY appreciated.

Also, is it hard to get good seeds into Aus? Was reading on Nirvana.com and a diff seed store that they dont usually ship to aus as theyre almost always intercepted by our customs. Prob wont use quality seeds till a few harvests anyways but just looking towards the future..
