Ahoy there one and all.
I'm an old sailor/artist with a love for growing and - - well smoke'n a little quality weed.
This year I tried aeroponics outdoors, and was fairly surprised that it worked well. Two (2) problems occurred:
ea. plant was in a 5 gallon bucket and when they got big, they got heavy- - - so when the roots got big they sealed the 1/2 inch drains and I'd have to cut the roots back. Ea. pot is connected to top and bottom,a by tubing. It required a hoist to lift these bad girls. Live and learn. I'll do the set up differently next time.
Oh, but then again I'm going indoors to have control of the light and will plant outside in dirt next year.
(2) I have 2 mag 700 pumps. 1 is in the usually dirty fish pond for the last 6 years- - - never stopped working 24/7.
The new mag 700 I bought for aeroponics lasted about one month and the impeller teeth looked to be simply worn away down to the nubbins. I got a new impeller $15- the sales associate said, it was the hydro clay balls and they need to be washed out real good- - - OK-done. The second impeller only lasted a couple of weeks before it quit.
Now mind you- I had a 300 micron bag over the whole pump both times.
Also the second impeller had 2 blades broken off in the motor and the third one missing. Inside the pump was fine white grains of maybe salt, or sand, and a few black specks. Anyone know what's goin on with the mag 7, or had the same problem?
