Default Hello from Minnesota
Whats up my fellow intranet tokers. It is nice to see that we can all gather to a place to discuss such things and I am finding a wealth of knowledge on this site I would just like to say thanks to everyone who has contributed in any way as its the small things that add up to the big things!

I am in my 20's and am an avid smoker. I enjoy all of the qualities that marijuana has to offer. Not only does it enable me to concentrate on individual tasks with great cognition but also enables my creativity side to flourish. I wonder how drunk I would be getting if not for pot, how many DWI's I might have from the evenings I have been pulled over and been high but not detectable like alcohol.

Well I decided that perhaps I should know more about what I am smoking so much of. I decided to pay a little tribute at the same time and whip out my green thumb.

Current Setup:
3' x 3' x 12'(ceiling) closet
PVC plastic walls and floor 4mil
Nylon tarp for floor base ( didnt go with foam, floor not concrete )
Normal 36" nursery trays
3 gallon rez w/sponge filter and powerhead and heater
Advanced Nutrients Monkey Juice A/B Grow/Bloom
Advanced Nutrients Overdrive
Float n seed tray
1 and 2 gallon pots
coco-coir medium, no additives 100% coco-coir
400w HPS and MH (I alternate MH veg-HPS bud)
Humidifier
PH meter & TDS Meter & soil stick meters
(going to be getting soon)
8 bulb compact fluorescent (im building this)
new humidifier thats capable of 70% humidity

Right now I am starting with 2 seeds I pull from some Dank bags, I only smoke the dank or when that isnt around very top-o-line beasters. The plants are doing pretty well one is really taking off and the stem is getting brown really quick. They are in a MG soil and grew under a heat lamp with a good blue spectrum untill I got the MH fixture. Both are approimately 1' tall.

Only issue I had was finding the good kind of mylar that doesnt rip easy, but I found it from a local distributor and wrapped that 1/2 way from the floor ^ in the closet.

Having some minor issues with the sick looking plant obviously.
Here is what I have thought or tried:
1. thought maybe this plant was 2x the size of the other so maybe it was deprived of water, gave it more water.
2. read and figured out I have high PH, bought some plant food / PH lower stuff from the local linders and watered the plants with 600PPM nutes from monkey juice. They are getting minimal plant food from PH balancer plus the lowest PPM on the label for the juice.
3. thought maybe light too close or they not accustomed to such nice light so I moved it up to 4' above the top leaves
4. thought maybe my spraying of nutes on foliage not helping, switched to vinegar PH balanced water with dechlorinator for spraying today
5. thought maybe soil not properly airated, took a stick and mixted it up without damaging the plant or roots.

This plant is acting weird I think that I maybe just need to leave it alone and let it live or die cause the stem is getting super brown and getting thicker, before the plant was healthy looking and green stemmed so either its just not used to the light and its putting all of its energy into its stem instead of the top leaves, and once it gets used to light in a week will grow healthy again. I am not sure though input greatly appreciated.

Quit fooling around with the plant. Never stir the soil and never spray the leaves. Give it a chance. You should even quit looking at it so much.

I understand this however I slightly compacted it when transplanting them from the pots they used to be in to the larger ones. Since I had an inadequate light before and they stretched instead of produced thicker stems and roots so I have to had a pretty solid base for them to sit still in. Thus I had to kind of compact the soil, and with that the soil cannot aerate properly I have read. So I made it so the soil could not only aerate better but drain better as well, the more fresh watering I can give the plant the better, so good draining is key I have read and thats also why I did it. I have had this setup about 5 days and I have been doing that over the days. I firmly believe that I just had the light too close and the humidity was not high enough, 2 humidifiers and a fan later I am at 83*F and 65% humidity so hopefully this and raising the light since yesterday will help.

but if i may ask why should I not spray the plant? this is good as a artificial rain and helps to raise the humidity and cool the plant periodically. Please clarify on this as I have read and been told spraying without nutes is a good idea.

You are going to stunt that poor plant. Make it start building roots now. Roots are key. Big roots=big buds. Foliar feeding makes for a lazy plant with shit roots. It will be much better off without you spraying it. If a plant wants to live, bitch needs to grow roots double time.

I won't even bring up the leaves getting cooked by the lights with the water on them.

Of course there are exceptions for special diets and the like, but on 99% of the plants just leave them alone. You'll be glad you did.
