I'm thinking to get a tattoo something like this pic below...
I don't want to get the one which everyone else has... you know..
and I think the attached picture is actually quite nice!
any ideas?
As a very heavily tattooed person, the best advice I can give you is that if you go to your artist and tell him or her what you want, and then back off and let the artist draw it rather than copying an image exactly, you will get a MUCH, MUCH better tattoo!
Go to as many shops as possible and look through as many artists' books as possible to get some inspiration and concept of what a tattoo can be. A few artists whose work you might want to look up are Anil Gupta, Denise de la Cerda, Hannah and Guy Aitchison, James and Tim Kern, Emma Porcupine...those are just a few.
Good luck! And remember, a good tattoo ain't cheap, and a cheap tattoo ain't good!!!
Cool~~
thanks all for the advice!
a good tattoo ain't cheap, and a cheap tattoo ain't good!
thats a good point!
I'm in asia country, have no idea whos good and who's not..
My tattoo artist is Buddhist and travels throughout Asia every year. She always tattoos people when she goes, she has tattooed monks in India! Where are you? She might very well know someone.

I have full sleeves, a backpiece, a chest piece, a large piece on my belly, a big one on each calf, one on my neck. My major life dream is to get my hands tattooed by a certain very expensive artist! Part of the reason I'm growing is to make that happen.
Tats are awesome but depending on the place your getting it man it fucking sucks! I got mine about a month and a half ago. It's my avatar. Some points I was almost giggling cause it tickled, others I was like fuck, are we done yet this sucks and then others I was almost on the verge of falling asleep. Lol, it was awesome though and in the end I love it. I can't wait to be explaining it when I'm 25-40 to my kids or grandchildren.

Everything posted on here is a lie! Except that,... and that... and that.
Im fully sleved out from shoulder's to wrist's, with a full back peice & my upper chest has large peices on both sides ,i have'nt had a new tat in about 20 years now.
Get what ya like but stay the fuk away from fly by night tattooists who run small shops,if they havent been in business for decades take a big pass, like anything else skill comes with time & an artists skill might not become evident for 10 years or better,as you get older skin starts to stretch, colors fade & everything starts to get dull & blurry.
This is where real skill comes into play, too deep & the blood stream washes the ink away quickly & not deep enough & the image spreads & dissapears quicker.
I couldnt be paid money to get a tat from one of those kids they show on tv tattoo shows, those guys are too green, take your time & find a qualified artist, where im located the best artists have been in business for decades,in small funky little shops, the new kids all have flashy shops with cool names, maybe even a few west coast chopper bikes or big dogs parked out front to look real cool,my advice is to look past all the flash & check out the artists long term rep.
