im currently reading through Charles Bukowski's "The Pleasures Of The Damned" and im fucking loving it. just raw, true real. its really good stuff, i highly recomend it to everyone on this site, smoke a bowl an jus marinate in the thoughts.

I was hoping to compile a list of everyones favorite authors of poetry and/or short stories. hopefully we can get a decent list going and we can make like, a list a good reads, books full of things to ponder while stoned instead of staring at a tv or computer screen. thank you to all who add, and fuck off to those who dont!!

I*ve got a good collection of Bukowski. 8-12 of his books. Post Office, Ham on Rye all that. My favorite american author I never got to read about in school. Ha

The Rum Diary by Hunter S Thompson is also a crackin read. Loved Post Office but haven't read any other stuff by Bukowski.

A great movie called barfly
Mickey Rourke plays a great Bukowski
the dvd is out of print from barfly and amazon wants $65.
I can hook you up for a few pennys tho.
...and "born into this" is a crazy documentary about bukowski.

Steven jessie Burnstein is also someone you should look into, hes wrote
a very wild poetry book and has a spoken word cd called prision-a must hear.

i read the poem barfly the toehr night, he talks about jane and how he wrote a screenplay about her. i thought barfly was the name of the movie, as it was the name of the poem, but i wasnt sure. id love to see it man, lets talk business haha
