I am new to the forum and before I was a member I read through the messages and got started, rather successfully(Bagseeds). Now I have encountered a problem with my oldest, so to speak. Her (Hopefully ) leaves at about the 3rd node have started to turn splotchy brown and the surrounding leaves are beginning to show similar traits. Since this is my first grow I have some equipment that in all likelyhood needs upgrading. I have a small desk fan that does not rotate and IMO subpar lighting.(3 GE Plant lights 65 Watts and a couple of florescent bulbs.) I'm thinking that perhaps the fan is damaging the leaves. The temperature typically stays between 72-88F (thinking there have been peaks as high as 95F for a very short period of time until adjustments were made.)and I'm reasonably certain that it's not nutrient burn. Could the splotchy leaves be attributed to the fan blowing on the plant from below or is it something else, pests, heat, or even Overwatering. So I guess my questions are: 1.) Is my lighting completely inappropriate and if so what would you suggest in place of the current lighting. (Cost and location) 2.) Should I trim the most affected leaves and what is the probable cause of my current situation, watering, pest, heat, nutrients or wind.
Sorry I have no pictures at this time. My Grow room is in an extra shower 4'X4'X8'.
I'd love to help bro but without pics it's like calling an auto mechanic and saying " my car's going clink, clink, bang, bang...what's wrong with it?"
But I'll do my best to answer the other questions.
I'd scrap the GE bulbs and just get some 2' or 4' (space allowing)flouro's with cool white bulbs from any hardware store. Eventually MH and HPS should be in your room. As long as you have air flow through the plants the little fan should be ok for now and is probably not the reason for your leaf problem. Bugs don't sound like the problem either.
How old and tall are your girls?
What ppm is the nutes at?

Okay hopefully I can help here. It seems you have the same problem that I had recently. My plants were still very small and then I put them into a starting soil and added some miracle grow nutrients...BAD IDEA ON MY PART!!! They turned the same color you mentioned. Try repotting them into just starting soil with NO nutrients added whatsoever. Then later (a few weeks or until they start looking like crap again) put them in a 3 month soil that slowly adds nutrients to it.
As long as your lights aren't too hot you should be fine. Tap water is fine, but I would PH it just to be safe. I have a filter system in my house so there is no problem for me. I can drink the water from the toilet if I wanted to lol.....but I would never do that. Good luck my friend!!
Hmmmmmm. I will never ask for a glass of water at your house paulio. LOL
But good advice. When you begin to add nutes start at about 1/4 strength.
Now that is more like it. Personal service.
lmao... ok so filterd water usually has a better pH than normal tap water right? Cause that would explane why I havn't had any pH problems...
O hell ya. You don't have all that crap that is put in the public water systems. It might depend on where you live though. I have a well which is awesome, but then a filtering device to that we just added a few years ago. Works great and tastes great!! My plants love it too!

What you just described is what I did, in my zeal to begin and have "Super-fast Growth." Did you get your supplies at Wal-Mart too...I suppose I will repot my ladies. I have a few more questions that might help me in my growing. As far as lighting goes it seems there is an overall consensus on this page that MH and HPS lights are the best. Where could I buy these, and about how much will they run? When is it appropriate to begin the cloning process and begin to make cuttings?
Why is ordering from HTGsupply.com so great?
Ask any plant and they will tell you that they prefer lighting systems from HTGsupply.com. Not only are the lighting systems top quality, but the gardeners who choose HTGsupply.com receive their lights quickly in discreetly packaged shipments and save a TON of money over retail and other websites. Gardeners can choose to order over the internet, call in their orders or pay by money order/check. HTGsupply.com will meet or beat any advertised price on comparable lighting systems, just let them know if you think you've found a better deal anywhere (not likely).
