how many foot candles is sunlight on an average sunny day in afghanistan?

whats the max useable footcandles that a plant needs to grow optimum ..

if you use CFLs then you should use at least a 40 watt CFL for each... 7k to 10k lumens per sq foot is supposed to be ideal. Each 40 watt is like 2700 lumens I think so if you put all the plants within a square foot that would be like 8k lumens.

what would the lux be for an area that is 16'' deep , 28'' long and 17'' high

6 15w CFLs (6,500k , 900 lumes each)
3 45w CFLs (6,500k , 3,000 lumes each)

i was inquiring at the hydro store about my veg room set up and he was 100% pro flourescent kept me on track

have you ever used a hps? it's amazing how much light you get with one. you need a lot of cfl's to get the same amount of light. I think cfl's are good for up to 3 plants. more then that, and you will benefit from having an hid light. I still use cfl's. they give extra light to the sides and edges of the grow, and easy to work with for mother plants and clones. I have a 400 watt hps, but I think the 600 watt is well worth the extra money.

I found someone selling a Sun Systems 400 watt Mh. He told me to give him a price, its slightly used, but everything works. heres a pic...what do you think a good offer might be? I checked out the Sun Systems page and they didnt have the exact same one but it was still a 400 watt Mh and brand new it was only 186.00 (US).
