Some of my seedlings (1 week old) have grown long and spindly, the others look fine but i have 2 or 3 that at the mo i have propped up, my question is, can i put more soil around them thats gone lanky so as to stabilise them and give them strength or will that cause damage to the stem at all?

Normally I grow from cuttings and this is my first go from seed, i'd really appreciate your opinions, thanx.

It sounds like you have the lights too far away from the plant...what kind of lights are you using?

Yeah i had to do this also, I staked up 6 and filled soil around another six. Now I'm in 2nd week of flowering, and have only 4 females. So when i pulled the males, I noticed the ones i buried more, had all kinds of roots growing from the buried stem. They will be fine.

Cheers guys, much appreciated...I'm using 2 ( at momnet) sodium lights, just put 1 more on so now 3 will go to 4 in a day or so then up to 6, what kinda height above the seedling should the lights be, at present i've got mine way high, i didn't want to damage or burn the babies?.

im not sure how far with sodium lights, but im growing with cfl's and have them barley over an inch away...basically if you can comfortably keep your hand there without it getting to hot you should be fine?
