first off i am NOT out to prove anything. this is simply a test you can take this info and do whatever you want with it. it seems when it comes to growing the only right way is MY way. not me personally but in general that is the attitude of the pot grower. i have yet to figure out why all the competition. since day one whenever i mention growing EVERYONE has the best way. people who have never grown a thing in their lives know evrything about pot. it is kinda funny. i have lived and learned, yet everyday i am DISCOVERING new things. not rights and wrongs just different ways.

so here's the set-up. a board, backlighting, and a meter. all materials are laid flat unless otherwise noted. i checked what i had laying around. i can do more later.

the meter was placed at 300 ft candles for the base number on the unpainted pine wood.

unpainted pine - 300

mirror - 375

white paper - 300

foil, flat, shiny
side - 425

foil, flat, dull
side - 425

when the foil
is curled - 500+ light was intensified into bright spots when curled

foil, wrinkled,
shiny side - 325

foil, wrinkled,
dull side - 325

mylar - 500

mylar when
curled - 500+ light was bent evenly due to the thickness of mylar




that's what i got so far. i can try to clarify any of these for now. so any questions?

cool, you have verified that reflectivity is basically the same.

might want to put an ohm meter to it so you can "prove" that it's conductive, just in case there's any doubt of that little fact.

can u use a little flat white paint and do a reading just for ultimate clarity

Nice man. I have been using the curled mylar for a half cylinder lens on my light box. I have to say its a damned spotlight D: burnt my retina for a half an hour first time i turned it on.

Somehow I knew it was a bad idea to have the bulbs facing me when I turned it on...

Thank you for all the work you went to for this test. Regardless of the outcome this was a lot of hassle and you didn't need to do this. So once again thanks!

i have an ohm meter. hang on................................................ ......


ohm meter was set at 200.

foil had 00.0 resistance

mylar had 06.3 resistance on the surface

surface was scratched and resistance was changed to 04.3

the numbers for reflectivity were done at a low light level. meter recommends 5000 foot candles (multiply by 10.06 for lumens) for optimum growth. when mutiplied to higher levels reflectivity numbers will change. they should change an even amount though. but the difference will be mutiplied.

i have to dig out some paint. maybe tomorrow. sorry i really need white paint in this test. i'll work on it.
