for growing clones or anything. picked one up cheap today but with further investigation i have read that they em it too much heat.?. should i just throw the light in the bin?

Halogen lamps are just high-pressure incandescent lamps with halogen gas in them. It lets them run at higher temps and efficacies so it's great for lighting, but not effective or efficient for growing. The problem is that they put out wayyy to much heat and have a narrow spectrum that plants can't really utilize well.

i have used a 300 watt for vegging

you have to keep it about 24" away because of heat it can be done though with somewhat success

Halogens put out most of their energy in the 650nm to 950nm range which is red light, so you if you were going to use halogens they would be most effective for flowering but still aren't recommended.

I have used 1 in the past and it seemed to do the trick. Like everyone else said they have to be far away as they produce a lot of heat.

While excellent for home lighting and similar applications, halogen lamps are not effective or efficient as grow lights due to their very poor spectrum (extreme far red) and high operating temperatures.

That shit is dumb to make a light i tried to use it for light and all it did was kill my plants.. Or was it HID.
