k dude, there talking about the watt's LED lights only use 9watts per fixture, but the spectrum they give is alot better then ENY HID lamp... nothing compairs to the spectrum value of a LED. By the way plants need the right spectrum for certain stages... Veg - Blue LED's - Maximum blue spectrum Flower - Red LED's - Maximum red spectrum... HPS bulbs give off bairly eny red spectrum, Mostly yellow.... if you were to compair CFL's To LED's.... CFLS would be killed in that compairison.... LED's produce spectrums compaired to a HID lamp... except the spectrum is better...

as you can see in the spectrum picture.... the chlorophyll and the LED spectrum are Very close to being the same..... which means very good growth.

I could grow a nicer plant with LED lights then i could a HPS... but using them both would be better... i have my HPS lamps... but these LED lights seem to be a future light, its stealthy and produces the same or better yeilds then a HPS... you can run 1000watts HPS.... and run 20 9watt LED lights which is 180watts did you not read that?!?!!? the output is 5000watts.... but only costing you 180watts..... say you had 100 9 watt LED lights... 900watts... with a output of... 25000watts, with no wasted light.... so you could grow alot of plants with same or bigger yeild.... with 90% cost reduction on your bill.

CFL's suck that guy needs to learn his shit again... get it?

i am not saying that LED suck i am stating the facts of energy used in a 1000watt GE grow bulb. A general factoid about energy used in HID lighting.

you don't get it. this guy for once knows his shit and is all about lights and is on of the leading researcher on LEDs from industry side, and he said that comercially build LEDs still can't give the water even to cfl's, so how should the compete with my HPS. did you copy it now. LEDs suck ass for the next 5 to 10 years and so does the ones you appealingly bought yourself there. been shitted by someone who can sell an Inuit a freezer

so in terms of a conventional edison type glow bulb, well for sure, they give away 95% of the power in heat and about 5% in light. but a HPS has a far higher ratio in terms of radiating light for power...

How hot do your MH bulbs get?
Where do you think that heat comes from?

The heat comes from Infared energy given off by the bulb.
where does that energy come from?
oh yeah it comes from the total energy output of your bulb.
there for using less energy for actual light.

lol poor kid, hps gives out the spec. of light that plants can use for flowering and use it well this is not debatable froob. i know u think leds r better well good for u show us some pics of the led grown buds. im wiping my ass with this now
