Rookie grow-sphagnum peat moss good or bad?

I'm pretty much a noob at this, but I've done research and have a good start. My question is about using sphagnum peat moss as a soil additive. I've played around with some different soil mixtures and settled on a mixture of Supersoil and perlite and it worked pretty well. I like to try lots of different options, so a couple of weeks ago I started a couple of clones in Supersoil/perlite/peat moss to see how they would like it. So far they are growing fine, but I have noticed that the soil retains water for longer now. That can be good and bad, as I don't want to keep the roots saturated. I used to water once every 3 days, but I can go 4 or 5 days now and there is still moist soil an inch or so down.

If anyone has any positive/negative experience with peat moss, please let me know! This is my first attempt at a grow where I have done research and have the right equipment and I want them to turn out nice! Thanks in advance for any replies...
