Ive just switched from 18 hours of light under cfl to 12 and 12 with two 600w hps... I was wondering how far I should keep them above my plants. Ill post a pic of the set up.

take the temp of the canopy or use the hand trick. i have my 400w almost 2 feet away you dont want to bleach your leaves. how big is your grow area?

that tray they are in is 4ft x 2ft. I have pics in my journal (link in signature) of the whole area... its a medium sized bedroom..

temp at top of canopy is 78. pretty livable im thinking...

just lower the light stick ur hand under it close to the plant if u feel alot of heat then its to close just raise it

ya you must have good ventliation. you can get them about as close to 83 and still be safe.

one question i was looking at your grow journal

what is that distributer looking thing you have atacked to the hose from your rez was thinking of trying a hydro setup.

better yet can you tell me what you bought for your drip system

its a poly material called pex, Im a plumber and that is what we use now instead of copper... Ya could probably use just plain vinal hoses from the garden center with zip ties. that is just what I had on hand.. its attached to the pump run into the tray and then attached to a sprinkler head that I converted to a six line drip system..

i have a 400watt setup and i keep the light about 8 or 9 inches from the tops. i have a fan bringing air in and out and another fan blowing accross the tops and havent burned yet.
