i was planning on growin only 2-3 for a space that small how many do i need?

You are not going to be able to produce much of anything in a space that small. Possibly 1 plant with 1 or 2 cfl lights around it that are 40-60 watts each-not the equivalent either. You will have to get a good indica plant and put it into bud at like 6"-you might get a 1/4 ounce if you are lucky. It's hard to produve anything good in a space that small.

Been lurking here for a few weeks and am glad you are taking the time to respond to questions. I will be starting a grow in soil and was wondering which veg lighting would be best. I read the most wattage is best. Also HID is better for veg and HPS is better for grow. Im assuming you need to keep the HID lights far enough from the new growith and lower as they mature in veg. Also interested in when you start the nutes in veg. Thx for the forum

hey I got a question, I am medical and am allowed 6 plants---3 that can be flowering--I have a vegging closet with a dwc set up 5" mesh baskets using hydroton as a medium--for the flowering closet I have the G.H. water farm with 13 gallon res and controller unit using only 3 of the buckets of course(hydroton as well)...will I have any problems moving them from dwc to the waterfarm? I was planning on moving the whole mesh basket, seems the only way really, how long should I let them adjust before upping the nutes for blooming? I will be using g.h. flora series, this will be my first hydro grow thanx

Ok, so I have 2 ?'s.... 1) Has anyone else have to return a cfl 3 times b/c the bulb burnt out? I dont know if Im just not having good luck with them or what. Also.... Can anyone tell me if this would be a good purchase, and how many it would take to grow about 4 plants? Thanks. is 2000 sek (about 338 usd) a good price for 25 used 250W hps light-fixtures with bulbs like the one in the picture?

Ok, lighting can be fun as hell to play with. First though lets do the basics. Theres 2 kinds of HID (High Intensity Discharge) lights that we us to grow with, they are- HPS (High Pressure Sodium) which we use for flowering- and MH (Metal Halide) which we use to veg the plants. Now the first thing to remember is not everyone uses MH to veg but you really should use HPS for flowering. HPS can be used fine for veg as well though. As you said the more watts the better and thats true for the most part. If you can handle the heat they throw off and can set up exhaust work a 400-1000 watt bulb is great. All depends how many plants ya wana grow. So all in all so far HPS is what kicks ass, now if heat is a huge factor- or money- CFL's are a great alternative. I am actually doing my first CFL grow myself and am quite surprised with the turnout so far. Wattage is very important here, ya have to look for bulbs that are between 40 and 65 watts in places like home depot, then get some y connectors and make like 2-4 bulbs per fixture, this works great. Or the option to buy the larger more expensive ones from hydro stores are great, but as i said more money less availability. Then theres LED super expensive and are great for adding supplementary light to grow ops that cant handle any more heat/limited space.
Nutes can be started 2 weeks after the seed sprouts, weak, like 1/4 strength and build it up. try and not use anything by miracle grow, even soil.
