I hear it is important to prune/trim some of the lower branches soo more energy is sent to the main colas and you can avoid popcorn nugs..

i heard picture a line 1/3 of the way up the plant and cut off everything below that line... (during the 3rd week of 12/12)

is this true?

working with sativas 20"-30" (2nd week of 12/12)
(with some Low stress training, an no topping)

I like to do all my trimming before on the last day of 18/6 at the latest.... and never later than the 2nd week of 12/12.. unless I am in dire need of clones...

It also depends on how much light you have....

I NEVER leave the first set of nodes... Those 2 always come off to make clones at some point i the plants life

i have lots of light, 1000hps per 4plants..
im not in need of clones..
just want to do whatever will give me the best end results...
and im 12 days into flowering...
1st grow ever, but iv always heard the lower nugs wont get enough light an are a waste of energy....

sounds like theres a lot of different views on this....

With 4 plants under a 1,000 watt light unless your growing monsters the lower bud sites will produce tasty buds,small but tasty,popcorn buds dont look worth a shit in bag's for resale but for personal smoke in a small grow why trim them,you have enough light for deep penetration to the lower branches with the 1,000,i would leave them.

The only time it makes sense to prune the lower branches is for a faster grow where light cant penetrate deep into the canopy,or a crowded grow.
