this is my first grow and i am having a few problems......... my plany is now about 2 weeks 2days old and it has not grown in height at all in the last week and a half....... when i first planted it, it was growing like crazy for the first four days and then it just stopped, so i repotted it four days ago and found out that the plant was rootbound.... now thats its in the new pot it should grow but its not getting any taller instead its getting really bushy (although the stem has gotten allot thicker)...... i am keeping it under 7 cfls (200w in total)..... also to note i have overfertilized it once in the early days but it was not very serious and i soaked it as soon as i saw the signs..... also about three days ago one of the leaves grew into the bulb and burned half the leaf....the plant is from some bagseed that my friend gave me....... anyone know what is wrong?

damn thats a thick plant. i have never had this problem. hopefully someone with more information can help you out.
my suggestion is to pull that light up about 3 inches and make that bitch stretch.

that could also be the problem...... i have been keeping the lights REALLY close to the plant like 1cm away...... i heard that if you raise the light up that the plant will grow faster and stretch toward the light.....is this true?....... also to make the stem thicker i twisted the stem around within the first week of growth and 3 days after that it got so hard that im afraid to bend it because it may snap.....

yeah just like in the forest the other plants compete to get the most sunlight so they grow taller to evade other plants. that looks way to close to it because it dosnt have to grow anywhere to get good light.

so if the light is too close the plant will not grow because it is satisfied?.......one more thing to note is that she (hopefully) is on a 24/0 light cycle......

wow that exact same thing is happening to me, i have the same light set up and everything. If anyone knows about this it would be good to know.

maybe you need to push the lights back a couple inches, and maybe grab of couple more cfls if possible

i'm no pro but you may have injured the stem when you twisted it (personally never heard of that technique on this site. try a fan!) and the stunt you're experiencing is just the re-coup.

as for a solution to the problem, wait for a real pro to respond

recoup from what? twisting the stem?........ i'm sure that the twisting of the stem has nothing to do with the growth stunt......

I dont know what to say, could be Ph imbalance, not really sure.

Just let it sit there and see if it changes in a week.
