I'm about to go to wal-mart soon, I was just wanting to know what kind of cfls I should get for veg or should I use my 400w for veg??

I got a 400w hps for flower cycle, would it be a good idea to use it for the veg cycle too?

Just me, and I use and like CFLs. If I had a 400w HPS, this is what I would use for both. Maybe add a couple of daylight CFLs to add some blues if you wanted, but dewd... you have a 400 watts HPS and apparently a place where you can use it!

so your saying that the hps will work for veg just add a few daylight CFLs to add some blue?

IMHO, yes... The HPS will produce a huge amount of light compared to the CFLs. The CFLs (6500k) should add the required (??) blues. To be honest, I do a resonable job at growing with CFLs. However, before spending the money wait for baby_gro or one of the other more senior members to reply.

Well this isn't my first grow. I got six plants going right now. One is on the 12th day of flowering, the other 5 are in the veg. Thanks for all the help...

Abalaze, if you ahve a veg space and a flowering space, by all means use CFL for veg. You can tell from my avatar it works well.

Mate i would say get the lights,, cool light CFL's 45W... like 5 of them... at walmart, there are double socket attachments, so get 6 of em mate. depending on how many plants.

If your going to buy CFL's for vegging, you want blue light around (6500K).
I'm guessing you got an EXTRA 400w HPS kicking around? If so you could use it for vegging...
