hey i am new comer to growing marijuana and i have everything i need

just need a couple of pointers....

for example

1. Best Type of soil
2. how long woud you recomend i have the light on?

I use scotts potting soil and lights should be on 18/6 for veg, 12/12 when you want to flower.

whatever soil you choose, get something that has no nutes in it at all. that way you decide when and how much they get w/o wondering if you're gonna burn them.

what does 18/6 mean and 12/12

18 hours on and 6 off for veg...12 hours on 12 hours off for flower...

18/6 mean 18 hours of light and 6 hours of no light same goes for 12/12 ---how do i post questions like that? i kinda want to know if regular light bulbs work? like 100w light bulbs?

yeah good question...

i got some red lightbulbs lieing round sumwhere can i use them... they do get rather hot

regular light bulbs produce too much heat. I use CFLs which is compact flourescent. they're also more energy efficeint than regular bulbs.

Regular incandescent bulbs dont have the correct spectrum that plants need. You need to use fluorescents or HID lighting. Check this out: http://www.rollitup.org/4674-post6.html
