    Hi
    I've got an old 400w hps. It Comes as one unit. The lamp, the reflector and the ballast. Can I use a 150-250w hps lamp with the 400 ballast or I need a new ballast
    I've got a small closet and 400w is way too hige For me

    No, a 400w ballast will try to pump 400w into any bulb you put on it. At best you would just burn out the bulb, at worst you would have a fire.
