Put a 250 halide and a 400 hps for flower it will make it more worth your while in quality and quantity. Vent with a 4 inch fan and try to find an air cooled hood. But it is pretty limited in 4 inch. So don't skimp on these essentials. If its cooled you can keep it closer which gives you more penetration. No on the T5's except clones and seedlings.

T5's kick ass if used propperly. If thats what you wanna use then dont be pushed into the hid's.. Also there are products out there that will fool your plants into thinking that T5 is a HID.. Give it a go you wont be dissapointed.

Listen to pet, we are both part of Team PAR T5. Flouros have definitely come a long way. They kick.hid's ass. Its all about proper spectrum. Giving the plants the proper light that chlorophyll absorbs. Not ass backwards hid. Lumens means nothing. By definition its visible light seen by the human eye. Plants do not absorb the spectrum we see. You just need the right bulbs

This is a chlorophyll spectrum diagram. Showing the spectrum that plants absorb.

They have come along way but to say they kick hid's ass is absurd.

To the OP, you can look around and find people here having success with them, Just gotta hone your technique. Good Luck!!!

i have a little smaller space then that for my veg/clone room. it is 30x20x45ish. I have a 2 bulb HTG hood that has 10k lumens and then i have an extra 2 ft single bulb t5 and a couple regular light hook ups for a litttle extra if needed. I get really great veg growth outta these. But they never get more than a foot tall in that room for me. exhaust is supereasy. Just one large computer fan intaking across the canopy. no problem with heat.

the downside to t5's and cfls is light depth penetration. For them to be most effective you need them to be as close as possible without touching the bulb. That is why High Output bulbs (MH, HPS) have good results. they simply have the power to penetrate into the canopy and provide more energy fro the plant

    so what would I need to grow 2 good plants from 12/12? A 2ft x 4bulb T5 or a 150 watt with both hps/mh?
