ya thats a little close. i have a air cooled reflector with another fan blowing right under the light between it and the top cola and i can almost have it that close but really dont like to. dimming it MIGHT help but you need to do some LST or something if you cant raise that light

YOu will know when your fans leaves show signs of " light bleaching" your leaves will start to fade to a yellow or they will get yellow and crispy. More common with 1000W HPS I would just keep a eye on the leaves until they show signs of light bleaching.

Take my advice your light is pretty close. Your recieving well over a hundred thousand lumens that close keep it
dimmed to 75 percent you will thank me in the long run.

I had a issue like that and was out of ceiling space, what I did was I went to wal mart and bought some heavy ass fishing weights tied them some string and then put them around my branches it bent them down and worked.

for 400w it doesnt look that close. look at how little penetration to middle and bottom. make your plant grow to where you want it using strings or bending.

I would definitely raise that light up a little if possible. And then add a 2700k CFL on the side aimed at the smaller plant on the side, to make up for it.
