When growing in a closet that doesn't have ventilation, i have done some reaserch and was wondering if an Air Conditioner -Portable Air Conditioner Systems - would do the trick?
I've never herd of anyone using one and dont know if its even a possibility but if anyone has any personal experience or has herd or read about them, please lemme know.

i have a small setup in a cupboard and im using two computer fans as intake/extract with a rotating fan inside i find this works great! an air conditioner would only be needed if you are in real hot conditions.

thats exactly wat im doin but im having problems.temp is to high unless the cuboard doors are open and humidity is low.i can't cut vents on the doors and i can't drill holes going through the walls.so wen the doors are shut im relying on an ossalating fan. don't think its enough.

Many air conditioners have a vent only switch that allows air to be brought in from outside by passing the air conditioning unit itself. I have one in my flower room. Works great.

well I'am lucky,For I'am a carpenter and building things is alot easy for me.I cut a hole in the ceiling of the closet and installed a ac duct.Got a box of insulated flex duct and ran it back to the central air handler and cut hole in the air bonnet installed the ring and hooked up the flex duct. When the heat is on I close the vent in the closet.I cool the whole house to around 70 to 75 degrees and the closet runs around 72 to 81 but mostly around 75.I have a darkroom vent I builed in the door with a 3"x3" muffle fan pushing air in the closet and the light is air cool shade with a 200 cfm fan pulling air through the light and exhaust into the attic.8" fan in the closet moveing air around all the time. The closet is 8'long by 8'high by 2' wide.So far I dont have any heat problems with one 400 watt hps light and 5 plants. If you cant cut a hole in your door I would replace it with a door I can cut a vent in.I'am guessing you are in a rented appartment or house. That way you can put the door up some place till when you move put the old door back up.Hope this helps you if you need to know something about carpentry pm me.I'll try to help.Peace

There's 4 basic building blocks for plant growth and photosynthesis - light, water, co2 and nutrients. If any of those 4 basic building blocks are deficient in any way, or the plant doesn't get enough of them, the plant will either die or won't grow properly. A plant uses up the co2 in the air around it's leaves in a few minutes, if this isn't replaced every few minutes the plant will stop photosynthesis, slow down it's metabolic rate, become stunted and eventually die. This is why you need to replace the air in your grow chamber once every 3 minutes for healthy plant growth and photosynthesis. A ventilation fan performs two primary functions in a plant grow chamber 1) To ensure a constant flow of c02 rich air from the outside via negative air pressure within the grow chamber with the fan extracting stale, co2 spent, warm air and sucking in new cool fresh air via the passive air vent; 2) To control temperatures and heat build up by extracting hot warm air and pulling in fresh cooler air. I don't really see how an air conditioner (unless it's vented to the outside) can help you achieve point 1, although it would probably achieve point 2 - to control temperatures. Contrary to popular belief, it's actually better to intake air from inside a house, flat or dwelling, than from outside fresh air because air in a house where people live will have far higher concentration ppm of co2 in it than that brought in from outside the house for the simple fact that humans exhale co2. Do not underestimate the importance of bringing in fresh co2 air from outside the grow chamber. |
