I am new to growing and borrowed a mother plant off a friend. The mother had many clippings off of it and I clipped 5 more off the plant. The plant looks like it is about to die. The top leaves are completely fried and the bottom leaves tips are turning yellow. The clones tips are also turning yellow. The leaves are curled down and seem rather dry.
I had a problem with heat and humidity at first. Running temps of 87-90F. Andf humidity levels around 28%-30%. Right now the closet is 77F and 40% humidity. Yet, the plant still looks sick. Can anyone identify my problem from the pictures? Also how can I manage to keep my interior closet cool with out leaving the doors open and then window open to let cool air in. I am using a 400w hps bulb and reflector. Thanks all |

WOW that mother plant looks horrible. I don't know if there is much saving her... I would focus on your clones and figure out some ventilation. Get a fan in there to blow some air around and open your closet as much as you can.

I use a 400 hps and it does not suck, and most of the people on this web sight use the same light. Your light is fine but your mother is dead, and you do have problems with your clones. I suggest you buy some good seeds from Nirvana. If you are new to growing then why not try growing in some good soil like Fox Farm and learn to grow. I just think hydro is hard for beginners.

How far away is your light? What light schedule are you giving the clones? 18/6 or 16/8 are the best for root growth. Try moving up your light as well as flushing your pots and giving them just water for the next week or so until they are ready for nutes.. Could also be that the mother is on her way out, and the clones weren't really doing too good either when you clipped them off...

My light was initially only about 3-4 inches off the top leaves. They burned out and died due to 90F temps during the day when the closet was shut. I now leave the closet open most of the time. The clones are getting 20/4 as well as the mother.
I was thinking the mother was on its way out due to programmed cell death. I was told the mother, I borrowed, was 6-7 months old; but the mother was always kept under veg light (24/7). I was hoping if the mother was on its way to a programmed death that the clones would live. But if all cells are programmed to die, then the clones will as well. I moved the light up so it is about 10 inches from the top of the mother. Give it a chance to cool off. I just flushed both the mother and the clones. When I flushed the mother a ton of orange, red, and brown came off. So I think the fox farm had way too many nuts in it. Lets hope for the best. Anyone else? |
