alright, here is my predicament... im planning my new grow room and am deciding to step it up to a HPS light... however before i go buying one brand new i have a friend with a 1000 watt ballast/bulb/reflector... if i was too acquire this used setup.... one question, haha i dont need a 1000 watter for the grow space i wanna set up in, i know i could run 600 watt lights with the 1000 watt ballast, however would the ballast still consume a 1000 watts or would it only pull the required 600 from the circuit?

The ballast is the power source,the bulb is the power draw,you will only consume the power/wattage that the bulb uses.
