CtO and CtB; a thought
i may have already asked this but i dont believe i got a response for it... if any of you are familiar with film set lighting or photography you will recall the lighting gels used on the studio lights, Color Temperature Orange and Color Temperature Blue; CtO and CtB for short.. these also then come in grades of strength such as full and 1/2 tint for less of a correction... of course since you're placing a thin colored gel on your light (it is heat resistent dont worry) you're obviously lowering brightness, however if you are flowering, or vegging, and have a full spectrum bulb.... would it be better to leave it as it is and get the full rated lumens brightness from the untouched bulb, or a lower luminosity but in the correct spectrum for whatever age your plants are in...
the gels usually will drop your light by 1 F-stop or sometimes even up to 2 stops for a super tinted pure color (probly way too strongly saturated for these purposes) but i dont know how much 1 or 2 fstops translate into lost lumens... think it's worth it? the gels $ is not an issue for me as i wont be paying for them
