Can I grow a plant with a 150w HPS throughout vegging and flowering. If so, how many plants?

depends how big you want em. But yes, definitely 1 atleast

and maybe use the enhanced spectrum bulb since you plan on vegging with it.

My plans are

1x150w HPS
I will keep plants small a possible by topping(maybe atleast 5 plants)
8ft high, 2ft wide and around 4ft long
Have fan and good vent.

Fox Farm big bloom and grow big
they will be in soil

plans are to get a 150w HPS put the 5 small plants i have now under it keep light on 18/6 then when they get around 15-20in tall ill switch to 12/12. give the nutrients as directed on the bottle. If i do this will I get bud?

is there any reason why you want to use a 150 watt and not go bigger?

You may need to get some CFLs to go with that,, at least for 5 plants,, that one light doesnt seem nearly enough,, just my opinion...........................

Becuase I don't want to use alot of power......trust me if i could get a 400w i would but doesnt that spike your electric bill?

I wondering if this set up will work could someone comment. please
4'x4'x6' space covered in mylar
2 x 200watt cpf 6400k
1 x 130watt cpf 2700k
will this be suffcient for growing

400w x 12hrs= 4.8 kilowatt hrs./day....... now i have very cheap power and it would not benifet you to know mine. but just look at your bill and c how much a kilowatt hr costs and multiply

a 400w light would be flying way below the radar
im running 3 1000w/s with and even then im still flying under the radar and im gunna add 1 or 2 more lights =)
and u would definately want more lights a couple more cfls would help

Kush, I dont know much about HPS, but 150w isnt that much. Considering computers draw out 350w - 550w. I use about 300w ( including fans ) of power for my little setup. which comes out to like 20-30$ if that, added on my bill.. If I were you, Id snag another 150w HPS since you have one already, 300w would be cheep imo. 150hps is not enough for 5 plants.

Smokie Morpot, I believe that is enough for growing. atleast one plant under CFL's. If I were you. I would pic up another one of them 6500k's for veg, then pick up two more 2700k CFL's for flower.

I use x6 45w 2700k warm whites for flowering, I use x6 6500k Daylight lights for veg. This was enough for 3 plants. check out my journal.
