| | First Grow!! Closet Setup | | Hey guys this is my first, well second grow. My first resulted in two males so i'm trying again. i have a small grow space that i intend to grow two plants, hopefully females. They are unknown strain. i have 5 30-40 watt cfls, and i will add more for flower stage. I made this grow setup on a very tight budget, i am only experimenting, i have no intention to sell.
Costs:
1 vanity 3 light holder = 9$
1 6" fan = 3$
2 pots @ 4$ = 8$
Baged miracle grow soil = 0$ ( i already had some)
5 CFL's 3000k = 20$
5 CFl's 5000k = 22$
1 powers trip surge protector = 9$
2 timers = 8$
All around it cost me 80-90 bucks, not bad.
I would appreciate any suggestions or advice, i will have pictures as the long days roll by. The pic only shows two cfls because of the light.

| | One thing you could do to increase your light potential is cover the back and side walls with aluminum foil. That is a very cheap thing that can really make a difference. Also beware of completely drenching your plants. It is good to keep them somewhat damp, but don't drown them like I did, this will cause root rot and It made my plant very weak(the stem). |

| | do NOT use aluminum foil. they sell emergency heat blankets at walmart for like 1.50 you can get 1-2 and cut them up to line the walls....DON'T use foil please. Even foil tape works, but it will create alot of heat too that you dont need. You aren't cooking with the light you want to reflect it. |

| | My temp is really steady, it stays between 71-80 all day and night. On my first grow i had widely varying temps 65-85 but now a got a fan on a timer and i like how it feels. Im not sure on the humidity though. I am using bagseed of an unknown strain. I think its a sativa (because of my first grow). Thanks for the thermo blanket tip, i used foil before but i got burn spots on my plant so i didn't this time.

| | hey i was wondering how i could increase my humidity, i think its too low, after i water my babies, the soil dries out REALLY fast. Even an inch under the soil is dry in a couple of hours, i am afraid that my babies will dry out and die. I tried using a cup of water but it hasn't seemed to work.

| | Hey so i have successful, healthy spouts. They are a couple cm tall and there only 5 days old. I decided to scratch my closet grow for a couple of reasons
1. Didn't want to cut through doors or wall for ventilation.
2. the moisture was ruining the wood walls and door.
3. my new setup is more discrete
My new set up was made from scratch. i took and old 2 foot tall filing cabenit, and stacked on top of it a 1.7 foot tall cardboard box. the cabinet was flipped upside down so that the two pieces join and create a 42 inch tall grow space. This is tall enough for my small grow, i cut through the cardboard to vent air and hold up lighting fixture, i went with CFL's because they are cool(temp), and not heavy (for cardboard). i have a thermometer in there right now and i am happy with enough space for two plants. ill post specs and pics later.
