Default Any difference between activated charcoal and carbon?

I'm pretty sure they're the same, a lot of people use the terms interchangeably.. if not, what am I looking for in a scrubber? Thanks.

if they were the same thing, The're wouldnt be two names. I know for sure that activated charcoal will eliminate odors better than pretty much anything. A good air filter is a defender 360 by filter queen. its a 1000.00 bucks but its the best. 3 times more filtration than a hepa filter, with a activated charcoal filter wraped around it. lifetime warranty, change filter 1 or 2 times a year

true story.. it seems like "activated" is referring to its ability for adsorption, and any media with that property SHOULD work out, I'd imagine.. the shit i got is for aquarium filters and its hella cheap.. maybe ill start crankin out these carbon scrubbers for you guys if its a primo set up.. .theres really no reason to pay a g for one... and then theres really no reason i shouldnt be getting paid g's to make em 8^)
