hello all, just thought that i would mention this to see if it is just me that thinks this is crazy.....visited a friend who is in his 6th week of flowering he told me that he is gonna put them on 24 hour lights for 12 days(he says it helps the crystals form) then total darkness for 48 hours to lock in the thc then cut them....that was the craziest thing i ever heard and i told him so lol...i stick to 12/12 thru the whole flowering cycle, but he swears by that method, anyone ever heard of this?....thanks guys!

Never heard of it. 12 Days would probobly be very bad. i'm no expert though.

mogie...i felt very stupid for even posting it here, i just couldn't believe that i was hearing that, and in my mind i just needed reassurance that it totally made no sense. i feel even dumber for having listened to him say that.

There are many rumors about growing pot that are just bad growing, but some people will still do it and say it works. I still run into people who say I should split the mainstem (drive a wedge thru the stem) before harvest to stress the plant, and make a lot of crystals.

Cannabis is photoperiodic. When given enough light to suppress the flowering hormone, she will grow vegetatively. If flowering, she will revert. After 12 days of light, she is vegging, and with 2 days of darkness that doesn't do any good at all, she is confused.
Harvest a confused plant, and become confused yourself, I guess.

The dude that runs the hydro shop near me told me that 48 hours of darkness makes em pop like crazy... he does seem to really know his shit so I tend to believe what he tells me. This 12 days of light though, that sounds like straight jibber jab to me.

THe 48 hour darkness I hear put more resin when you dehydrate your plants, it uses everything it has left and the stems become hollow-like from being used up. A lot of people have said this has worked, others who knows if they did it right. Anyone try?

I've done the 2 days of darkness before harvest. It seemed to make the buds ripen up some while in the dark, but I don't think it would increase resin or potency. I decided that I would rather give them 2 more days of light.
