You read the entire thing? Wow! Ok for you then I will add a quick summary as to my findings Many people here use an hps system for flowering. The reason being is tht it has more yellows, roanges and reds in it for flowering. In late autumn or in the last stages of growth (flowering) the sun has more of these colours in it. The thing is it STILL has greens and blues in it, the blues being vital to healthy plant growth. The blues are what make vigorous healthy plant growth which is vital especially in the vegetative cycle BUT it is also very important in the flowering stage. You don't want to substitute all your blue tones for reddish ones as you end up with buds that aren't as dense. I presently use a 1000 watt MH ballast with a 3 foot reflector thats umbrella shaped. I use a sunmaster warm deleuxe bulb which has a balanced spectrum of light for both the veg cycle and the flowering stage. Yes I can do better but I must admit that it works really good. My buds end up tight and compact which is how I like them to be. I like to be able to just crumble my buds up before I toke. I also discovered that increasing your lights past 18 hours is a total waste of hydro. Plants can only absorb so much light and the rest is just a waste. If fact, they need a resting time. Just my thoughts on the subject. Doesn't mean I'm right or wrong. |
