thanks budsmoker. I tried the last pucs but my computer times out before I can see them.

So I can use any ballast and get any reflector as long as they wattage matches up.
Obviously I can't use a regular ballast with a dual light reflector because that has two switchy things.

Thanks budsmoker and email

Thanks a lot budsmoker. Thatw ould be a sweet deal.
Unfortunately I deleted my profile and now I can't pm anyone and I don't know how to get it back.

I'll work at it. Yeah I would rather get better quality used stuff than brand new cheaper.

I'll try and get my pm back on

if you want deatails on the used ballasts shoot me a pm about it i will mail you the link.

Thats awesome. Thanks email. i am gonna try and get one from Canada otherwise I have to pay up 35% duty fees.
Yes these obviously would require a special type of ballast/
I'm gonna check it out thanks again.

That natmoon
Yes I noticed you have very tense buds and the information that I have been reading says that you still need those blues in there to get nice tense buds and the main reason few people realize this is because most people just want more instead of better.

I suppose if you were selling perhaps this may be the case but I just want to get the best buds indoors as I can without burning the house down

Those big bulbs look kinda scary like there are gonna explode or somethin.' Growlux was another brand name that came up.

Interesting. Do you find that the added blues during flowering produces tenser nicer tasting bud.

In this research they said that most growers would not believe this until they tried the results.

Nice pics. I still haven't figured out how to take those close ups. I guess if all else fails I should read the intructions.

I can only imagine that you would be even more happy with a 600,800 or 1000 watt version of this lamp.
I was amazed at the difference it made and the high thc strains love these lamps i am sure.
Of note though i did use my 2 blue fluros as well as the hps.

Yes combining a dual spec hps and cool blue fluro tubes is great in my opinion but i have no evidence apart from the fact that i can say that i am in no hurry to remove the fluro tubes
The stuff above was the best smoke i have ever grown.

Yes and you have been growing for a long time. The article was really interesting but I didn't know what was fact and wasn't. Its interesting stuff.
I have my eye on a 1000 watt ballast 'cause hubby just said today I could get it if its a good deal 'cause I told him how much they would cost to buy brand new.
So I thought if I can get a good ballast I can buy a dual reflector with cool fan attachment.

Thanks Nat

Ok heres what you do. Go to Maryland Hydroponics buy thier 600 watt digital switchable ballast setup. Its about $119 its the digital ballast and it run both mh or hps bulbs just pop in whichever you want. Then buy a nice ari cooled reflector for aroun $80 then get a nice gavita 600 watt hps bulb and then go on ebay and get a $40 600 watt mh bulb. You have digital power thats silent running, overclocked to about 640 watts for extra light.uses less electricity then a magnetic ballasts so only uses about 475 watts. You then have an air cooled reflector, 600 watt digital ballast and a 600 watt mh for veg and a 600 watt hps for flower all in 1 neat package just swap the bulbs and turn it..

Sooooo. I've been researching this for so long now and the more info I read the more confused I am getting.

I have looked into MH lights because of the vegetative growth and hps for the flowering stage and the ones that combine both. I have assumed that the more lumens the better the light BUT I've recently read that THIS isn't necessarily the case.

There are some dual spectrum lights out there that take both MH and hps combined.

Does anybody have one like this and what do you think about it?

I am taking into consideration...hydro costs etc and would prefer a ballast that is air cooled.

I even read today about some type of lights that are light incadescent but give off the same wattage as a 500 watt but are only 65 watts and are used for growing.

Then there is another type of bulb that mixes the two together.

Sooooooooo I am getting confused.

I bought a 100 watt Sun System unit last night off eBay along with 4 small bottles of DNF for $50 and now I have been keen on the Sun Systems units.

It seems the more I read the more confused I become but seriously I know diddly skwatt about lighting sooooooo if anyone can understand what I am talking about here please fill me in because this is getting very confusing

Thanks

hey just keep this in your mind, hps for flowering and mh for vegging. You could very easily just use the hps for vegging and flowering. It just depends on how fancy you want to get. Some people like having there own lights for there veg room and there flowering room but its a fact that hps is best for flowering and Mh is best for vegging. You could also get cfl's there basicly florescents, you could also use those for vegging. If you have any questions feel free to message me.

Yes I am getting a bit fancy. The thing is I don't even have a grow room yet and haven't decided if I am going to have two grow rooms or not but since I already have a lot started I think it would be silly to not get the extra wattage in the growth NOW when it is needed so i am going for the switchable like fletch mentioned only 1000 watts.
I found a really sweet deal and really hope that it comes through.
And hopefully my grow room will be finished soon.

I was going to go for a 600 but recently hubby has ok'ed a 1000 so while it is all yeses I am going for the 1000 watt.
A lot of these places don't want to ship to canada and even if and when they do we get penalized about 35% duty taxes, so it doesn't end up being such a great deal.

I am going to get the switchable ballast but in the 1000 watt. The only thing now that I am wondering about is that it says that it has a fan adapter.

Can anyone elaborate on this? Is this like an option to add a fan?

At least I am getting closer and am not so overwhelmed. Its starting to make sense now.

Thanks for taking the time people
