Conversion Bulb from HPS to MH

This is my first time so please help if you have a chance: I'll journal with picc later. i have a lumatek 600 watt hps digital ballast (doesn't switch to MH) with a hortilux Enhanced Spectrum Super HPS Bulb. According to the salesman he said this bulb will get me from start to finish veg to flowering. However, they also sell conversion bulbs for veg. Should I get this or will the the current bulb work well for veg stage?

this bulb will work for veg and flower. GOOD CHOICE ! lots of blue spectrum.

if starting from seed you will want to start with a little less light for the first week.(i use fluors for this) then when introducing the 600 start them at 3ft from the bulb and lower each week. you will be fine.

i veg all mine under the same bulb 400w hps. i looked at a couple conversion bulbs, to much money.

I have all the seedlings under 2 floros. They are all about 2-3" after 6 days. The bulb is about $90 which I don't mind spending at all if it works better. Bought a mega garden and when I got it I realize I could have built this my self for about 90% less. I think I'm going to need something bigger later on, but this is my first time. Using BB seeds. I'll add pics when I get my camera setup.

The hps bulb will work for vegging, but if you have a little extra money, go for the conversion bulb. It provides a lot bigger spectrum of light. I was going to get the conversion bulb myself for my grow but my friend that works at a hydro store got me the best deal of my life on a digital mh/hps ballast. I bought the same hps bulb as you and it worked out great, hortilux is a little expensive but well worth it in my opinion.

Just get the new hortilux dual spectrum bulb.Its for both stages and has a built in mh color inside the bulb.Thats a shame that lumeatek isnt switchable for the money. I bought my switchable difital 600 watters that run both mh and hps for $115 each delivered new.Love em..conversion bulbs loose so much light in the conversion

the 400 and 1000 watt ones are mine just isn't. Will it make that much of a difference if I just use the bulb i have?

i dont think so.....

you can always add the fluors for side lighting with 5000-6500k to help with full spectrum.

you can use the 1 bulb you got all the way through.Itll work fine just not optimized

thanks for all of the feedback. I'm just trying to have enough to make some brownies and what not. I'll try it this way and get the dual bulb when this one dies.
