Alright yes i am a noob, i am curently in the process of doing a micro grow but i am looking for something a little bigger. I am building a subwoofer box that will be roughly 3 ft tall and 11 inches wide. I figure that with the lights and pot i will be able to grow a plant a max of 2 ft tall. There will be a small speaker in it hooked up and everything but it will not be actually used. I have a fan for it and some lights i'm using right now. I will post pics once the box is built. I was just wondering if you guys can see any problems i will run into or any suggestions. Also i really need to know what the minimum amout of light i can use is that will still produce results? You'll need a couple of 42Watt CFL's per plant (6500 temp) and a good ventilation system. CFL's get pretty hot, especially in a confined space.Flower them when they are about 8-10 inches. good luck.

around what temp should i keep the box? Also one socket i have for a bulb says to reduce the risk of fire the maximum is 40 watts, will a 42 watt bulb be fine in it?

ditch the socket...thats a sorry ass socket if it can only take 40watts. if you make a sub box make sure u make it a little wider cuz 3ft x 11 inches looks weird. you can go 3ft x 15" and it would look normal. also carpet it so i looks like the real deal. have you thought of anything simplier? like maybe a computer desk.

or one of those small dorm fridges...just hollow it out

nah still at home so that stuff would look kinda random this will just fit in my closet with my other stereo stuff, ya i realize it'll be just under 3ft due to the space in which it's going. And yea i have material to cover the front part and everything i just need to figure out where to put the fan hole and hide the light comming out, wires will be hidden in the back so i'm not worried about that. What's a good temp to have? and will 2 42 watt cfl's be good for a single plant or like 4 smaller ones?

Why not just use the closet? Hang a bunch of coats in front or something, so you cant see it when you open the door. I feel like youre going to have problems with ventilation in a sub box.

man i'd love to do that but i can't cuz of the parents it'd be to risky, also the girl isn't big on anything to do with weed so extreme secrecy is needed hardcore, honestly ppl grow in p.c cases and i've got a grow goin in something way smaller and it seems to be allright, hey this can be experimental, and if it works do you know how many ppl can start grows while still living at home man it's the start of a generation haha damn let's roll another

^ im running under a similar situation. U can use one 42 watt per plant for the whole operation. I have seen it done with a 23 watter. (micro grows we are talking.) I would grow 2 plants to reduce the risk of getting male... but here is my set up:

2 towels nailed up to cover top and front.
then i push a couple shirts in front of that.

the box:
1 42 watt cfl
2 fans pushing air onto it
a hole in the side of the box to push air out (will eventually
have another fan sucking air out)
growing a few plants, when they get larger i will pick the 2
best looking and give the others away. and will get a y splitter
and another 42 watt... maybe a new socket.
the box measures: HxDxW (20")Hx(14")Dx(17.5")w







Oh and i rotate the plants 2-3 times a day (when i look at them) so they dont grow at an angle

ya man you've got the idea of what i want, i salute the set up you have lol i plan on having a 42 watt and a 27 watt bulb in the box and a small fan on the side, i plan on having 2-4 plants at any given time, yes i'll rotate them so they light is even, also i'll have the dull side of aluminum foil on all the walls b/c i find it reflect light the best, i built the actual box today and it's 35" high 11" deep and about 12.5" wide i'll try to post pictures sometime this week, also i was wondering the picture in my avatar is the grow i'm doing right now is that plant looking o.k for about a week old and under 12/12 from seed? Also i don't know if it's cuz i'm high right now or does it look like u can't even see the pot? only the dirt on the edges lol?
