clones

could someone tell me please? why is it,my clones take weeks and weeks to develope any roots at all..and when they finally start appairing,the tops of the clones have just about dried up, my humidity is about 80 and temp. is about 70. any idea please? anybody? I got them in vermercilite and those little foam blocks.

use fluorescents, keep the temp around 75-85 degrees i think, maybe get a heating pad or keep it off the cement ground, keep it misted in there with a spray bottle, but not too wet. soak the cubes in 5.5 pH water. put your mother plant into bloom nutrient b4 you take clones and myst the clone leaves a couple or 3 times a day b4.

if you have one put a clear tank sort of thing over your clones but make sure air can come in the bottom (leave a space or somthing) and keep the tank and plants moist by spraying the inside with water, your clones need to be watered threw thier leaves while they have no roots.

Cold cuttings may never root. If the temperature at clone root level is under 65 degrees, you'll want to use a heating mat. Temps of around 75 to 80 are optimal.

I have a followup..

I'm using rockwool. I spray my cloans with water. I am using a dome over the cloans with 2 flos. My question is, why are the cloans so thin and or weak? or is this what they are supposed to look like as cloans? I've had to tie them to a dowel to keep a few up.

Since changing them from this current system to a ebb & flow, all is well. but my questions are bugging me.

I mist my clones with one drop of superthrive per litre of water (1/4 of US gallon) any comments on this please? and also, what should the ph be of the misting water,please?

Make sure they're firmly seated in the medium. If they are "too firmly" seated, you may have bent or broken the stem and stopped water uptake.

Make sure that the lights aren't too bright, fluoros are all that's needed. Next time, an anti-transpirant spray will greatly reduce wilting-- they form a waxy barrier that keeps water inside the cutting.

The cuttings may be too large with too much leaf mass. You can trim off the half of the fan leaves to reduce area or take smaller cuttings.

is it better to clone to rockwool or those clay things they used in I Grow Chronic? My 8 clones to rockwool were 100% succesful but I didn't have near as much luck with the damn clay things so far. But I did miss misting them for one day.

I don't mist with anything but plain water. The ph of the misting water should be about 6 - 6.5

I did use roottech in both instances. Not sure why my oasis ones didn't turn out as well as the rockwool ones. I'll try it again with oasis and see if it happens again. If so I'll start tweaking the recipe.

Hell. i cloned 4 plants, each once, with root powder, and soil. no dome, just a spray bottle.

They all survived. Until i killed one myself.

i had the same problem on my end. Picked up a warming pad and have them in a dome. Before the above, they died off on me. Since the pad and dome, the humidity is in the 90's and temp is 74 to 80. have them on flows running 24 hrs a day. all looks good. keep misting 3 times a day

make shure u use root hormone on the cuttings of your clones.

superthrive is the best i use it on my clones and they stood right up

you can root in nothing but plain water if you want to. Remember elementary science, sticking the potato in water and then a week later, it had roots? Its the same thing. The most imporant factor is the environment. If your clones are bent over lookin like they're dead, then the probably are. They will stand up on its own after about 30 minutes of putting them into the medium if it is taking up water properly. If you keep the growing medium slightly warmer than the air, it will also assist in quicker root development. i have had a clone root in 3 days before. i just bought some seeds of some God Bud, germinated them christmas morning, and by christmas night, they already sprouted so i planted them in some grodan cubes. God Bud spouts on Christmas day...cant wait for my jesus stick. ;0)

you can also store clones for about 90 days in the fridge if you need to. not rooted clones, but fresh cuttings.
