Default Help with producing big buds

I have two female ak-47 plants, in the third week of flowering. They are under a large warehouse hps lamp. One plant is around four feet tall, and the other over five. This is my first grow, letting the plants grow wildly without trimming. Im worried about having popcorn buds instead of nice big ones. Any advice would be helpful. Take a look at the pics. They are from a cheap digital camera so the clarity shitty and somewhat distorted. I havent water them yet so the leaves are hanging. Thanks for any help --- Jet

Jetson,

Those look nice. How long have you had those at 12/12???

I'd like the secret to unlocking crystals. Some of these bud pics make me lusty! LOL

So I'm upgrading my light. I'm going from a New Wave 28 T5 (192 Watts) to a 600 Watt Digital w/Cool Tube and both bulbs. See link.

How many watts is your light?

To me they look like 3 or 4 weeks 12/12 and the stalk is pretty thin. I'd tie them to the rack you've got in the back. Kinda curve the head back down towards the floor. Then, you can lower the light a little more. The bottom line is the more light, the bigger the buds. So you want the light as close as possible. But you can't burn the plant.

Last time I used my T5 I supplemented the lower part of my tree with a CFL from Walmart. I left the light in the one spot throughout the 12/12 cycle. The buds on the branch it was closest too were noticeably larger.

This is the light kit I ordered. I upgraded the HPS Bulb to Sunmaster and will keep the Agro MH.

you could also trim your excess growth earlier in the life cycle. In veg and at the beginning of flowering this way growth is concentrated on a smaller area.

A fan blowing on the plants and molasses in the water once a week should help to fatten the buds.
Also adding some low powered cfl blue and red spectrum side lights will also help to make your buds larger.
Or you can buy some proper bud fattening products from a hydro store or online

well... anyone who knows me will tell you im a big fan of scrog. i dont have any problems getting dense nugs with scrog and hps. hps generally persuade more dense buds anyhow, so you dont have to worry there.

I'll introduce you to the Skunk Passion twins. They were started 11/17.

The one to the left is "Little G". The one to the right is "Super Fly".

Thanks for the info, ill probably add some side lights since the under branches are noticably behind. Also, ive just been using 10-50-10 every two weeks with my watering, this sound good? i was thinking about adding epsum salt to it, and anything else that will help but not overfert. No hydro shops where i live, just home depot. Any ideas? I also had to leave my plants for thankgiving and wont be able to see them till this sunday. The thing is i have no timer for my hps so i sadly moved each plant to the closest window. Not much direct sunlight. I hope it doesnt set them back to much.

Jetson,

The adding of the CFL's will help out tremendously..

Snuggle like 4 or more up to each tree. Remember to check the K's on the package. LOL

The twins will have the 600W up top and the T5 below, shining up. Rock Star treatment!

You're doing great for a first grow.

Thx
