Default PICS of my First Grow under T-12's, T-5's/Soil
This is my first grow. It is in a closet at the crib. Im using a 4' flouro with two 40w t-12's for the beginning seedling and veg part and then switching over to t-5s for the rest of the grow. Im using pro-mix potting soil with 40% perlite mixed in. Ive kept the flouro about an inch away at all times and they seem to like it. Right now I just have a small fan blowing on the plants angled up towards the light to coll it and allow the plants to touch the bulbs if they grow into them that day. No burning or any ill effects from the plants touching. I used random bagseed and it looks like I have a nice mix of mostly indica and a sativa. Btu Im clearly not an expert. I will update with pics every week at least or when things look interesting. Im going to be adding nutes in a few days as the first cotyledon leaves start to fall off. Im also going to be sealing the closet with B/W panda film this week. In a couple weeks I will add to this an exhaust fan scrubber. Until then I will just leave the top open to move air around. Tips always appreciated but please no off-topic chatter. Its cuz of you guys that this is working out so well and I will def be giving props to peeps throughout. Enjoy.

Plants four and five. Four is the sativa, me thinks.

BTW, this is about two weeks since they have been in soil. I used the paper towel method to germinate the seeds and put them into plastic cups to grow at first. Then as the roots started to show through the side of the cups I covered them with styrofoam cups to block out the light. I transplanted them about a week ago.

They look good man. it looks like they might be touching the bulbs though...if so they would be better off like an inch away.

They are about an inch to 3/4 inch away from the lights. Im keeping them close to get the max out of the power from the flouros.

are those t5's they are under? if you have a multi bulb fixture. like lets say a 4 bulb. they will actually get more lumens a little bit further away because they will recieve light from more bulbs at once. I veg under t-5's and noticed that about 1.5" away was working better than .5" an inch away very quickly because when they were very close they were only recieving light from 1 to 2 of the bulbs.

but yes generally closer is better.

Right now those are t-12 lighting those plants so I think for those closer is better. I'm planning to switch to t-5s this week along with the panda film. Then I will take your advice and keep them 1.5" away. Half blue and half red. Props to VV.

BTW the closet is 5' wide by 2.5' deep and 8' high. I plan to use two 4' 4bulb t-5's with mixed spectrum bulbs. This will total eight bulbs of t-5 power.

Nice rig NOWSTOP! Im contemplating a SCROG type grow with this one and I think i am going to simply bend the plants around to fill the area. Since I only have one area to grow in using clones is kinda inconvenient and I prefer seeds anyhow. Just that old problem with males and hermies but hey, thats what it is. Thanks for the advice. Props to nowstopwhining (in the Arnold voice.)
